Top 3 tips for future brides:
1: Book your vendors, i.e.: photographers, florists, and bakeries, early. We started planning a year in advance and booked everything about a year out. This ensures you will get whom you want to do your wedding and you can work on the exact details you want for your event.
2: Set a budget at the beginning of your planning. This gives you a starting point. When you go to your appointments do not give a set price, instead tell each vendor exactly what you want. This gives you a place to start from and you can always scale things back.
3: Once the day is finally here just take the time to enjoy everything. It all goes by so fast. Take the time to look at the details that took you months to plan and prepare because it will be over before you know it. Make sure you pick a good photographer that will capture all of it so you can remember or see things you might have missed.
4: I had to include one more! If you have the time you can do a lot of the small stuff on your own. We saved a lot of money by doing things on our own. Don’t be afraid to experiment with ideas and do them yourself before hiring someone else to do it.

Describe any personal or special touches that helped make your wedding memorable: We decided to name all of the tables after places we had gone together. However, we went a step further by then writing a few sentences about why each place was special to us. I think this helped our guests understand each place and why it had meaning to us. I also think all of the small personal touches give your wedding your own personal flare and let your guests feel like your wedding is truly about the two of you. We also opted to do a kids table. We put all of the kids age 10 and under at this table. Instead of linens we got white paper. We gave them crayons to draw. Instead of flowers we had a cupcake tree. In addition, we put candy, bubbles, etc on the table for the kids to play with.
We assigned their parents to the tables right next to them. That way the kids could play and the parents could enjoy the wedding too. I recommend the kids table to anyone inviting kids to a wedding.

The best thing about the day: The best thing about the day was walking down the aisle and seeing each other for the first time. It truly was the best day of our lives. Every detail we wanted was carried out better than we could have imagined. We were surrounded by our friends and family to celebrate this occasion and we couldn’t have planned a better wedding. The best part was at the end of the day we were finally married!

Did anything go wrong? Yes, things always go wrong but in the grand scheme of things they aren’t as important as the fact we were married. Something happened causing our cake to slide. It still tasted great but it looked crooked. It will be something we can always laugh about.

The Location: We wanted to get married on a golf course. Chad and I played golf for Fresno State and since golf is a major part of our lives we couldn’t think of a more appropriate place. It was beautiful in the springtime with all the green grass, the pink azaleas, and at sunset it was the perfect setting for our wedding.

The Planning: We had 13 months to plan the wedding. I did most of the planning on my own. I had a lot of friends to bounce ideas off of. I used websites and bridal magazines for ideas. I would then take the ideas I liked and find ways to do them myself.

Decor: Very classy and elegant. We went with black table clothes, white overlays, black napkins, and white chair covers with black sashes. The table names were in black frames with pink rhinestones. Pink flower shimmering confetti. Pink favor boxes. And we hand stuffed menu cards into folded napkins! We also had lots of candles. Since the wedding was after 6:00pm we wanted to stick to the more elegant feel a sunset, nighttime wedding should have.

Flowers: We let our florist have free range with the flowers for the most part. We told her anything pink that would look great. We wanted to make sure we included roses and gerbera daisies. Bridesmaid’s bouquets: Were light pink gerberas and fuchsia roses. My Bouquets: 2 dozen Tiffany Roses (light pink) Groomsmen: Wore Fuchsia Rose Boutonnières Ceremony: We lined the aisle with fuchsia rose petals. Used white material to drape the chairs and every other row had gerbera daisy arrangements. At the alter area we didn’t want to take away from the backdrop so we had two large vases with rose petals and candles for the sides and then one large flower arrangement to go right behind us. We also decorated the lanterns that were behind our bridal party. Reception: We used a mix of tall and short arrangements for the tables with flowers covering all shades of pink. The head table was kept simple with candles and vases with gerbera daisy. We opted to have a separate table for the bouquets so they didn’t take up too much room on the head table. I love flowers and feel they can make or break a wedding so we added some floating candle/flower pieces to the bar. We also had an arrangement put in the restrooms.

Menu: I let Chad pick the menu on this one so he could participate. We had Caesar Salad, Chicken Marsala, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and Steamed Broccoli Everyone loved it. For the kids- we did Chicken Fingers and Fries and asked that they be served first.

Cake: The original bakery we booked went out of business so we had my Aunt do our cake. Other than it sliding it turned out great. The best part was we got to pick our favorite flavor! Our cake was 5 tiers, round, stacked of Funfetti Cake Flavor with Vanilla Cream Cheese filling. We went with a white butter cream frosting with Pink dots. It was topped with a precious moments cake topper with flowers around it. It tasted amazing!

Honeymoon Location: We are going to Las Vegas for a week this summer. With moving right after the wedding and trying to get settled into Reno we decided on somewhere fun to unwind. We are going to plan a nice trip to the Caribbean for our one-year anniversary. I think for some, once everything settles you can truly enjoy your honeymoon.
